School Direct (non salaried with Masters credits)

General Primary School Direct
(non salaried with Masters credits): 23N5

We offer a unique Primary General Teacher Training programme for graduates. Trainees on our School Direct programme will be allocated a school in our Alliance for one academic year, all of which are outstanding or good. We provide a personalised and supportive training approach and therefore the location of your 'home' school will be taken into consideration.

The majority of time will be spent in your ‘home’ school with additional teaching in an ‘away’ school in the Alliance. You will have two Teaching Practice blocks in your 'home' school and one in your 'away'. The 'away' school is a contrasting experience which supports your development into a good to outstanding teacher.

St.Mary and St.Thomas C.E. Primary Alliance treat our trainees as professionals who are part of the school team. You will have a Personal Learning Coordinator in both your 'home' and 'away' school who will support your development. Assessment is ongoing throughout the course and is measured against the Teacher Standards.

The taught element of our School Direct programme will be delivered by outstanding and specialised trainers from our teaching School partnership – Head teachers, Specialist Leaders in Education, experienced consultants and outstanding practitioners who are still involved in teaching. The majority of the training sessions take place at our training centre at St.Mary and St.Thomas C.E. Primary school and in our Strategic Partner Schools.

Working in partnership with Liverpool Hope University, we provide our trainees with a strong school- centred postgraduate route into teaching but with the added benefit of studying for a Masters level with Masters credits. The teaching at Masters Level will be delivered by Liverpool Hope University. You will attend Liverpool Hope University for 12 days and complete two assignments throughout the year.

This programme offers a wide range of training opportunities to enhance your job applications including: training in Read,Write,Inc and Dyslexia Awareness. We are also proud to be the first TSA to trial and develop the Anglican Church School Award. This was developed last year in association with Liverpool Hope University, Liverpool Dioceses, Expert Practitioners and R.E. Specialist Leaders in Education. We are pleased to offer this to you as part of this training programme. Support in making applications for teaching posts and interview technique is included in the training programme.

This training programme was graded as "outstanding" by external Quality Assurance processes.
