I am a highly committed and professional student primary school teacher who enjoys working with young children and heling them succeed in their education. I have a very calm and patient manner, but also effective behaviour management skills which allows to me to effectively manage the children and maintain a respectable teacher status. I have excellent communication and listening skills and relate well to young children. I can communicate well with parents where needed, and work alongside them to ensure their children are receiving the best out of their education.

Teaching is something I have been passionate about from a very young age and understand it is a hard working yet, very rewarding job role. As I am a very organized person by nature, I like to ensure that my classroom and work area are ready for the children’s arrival in the morning and that my lessons are planned in advance following the curriculum with any worksheets printed at the beginning of the week.  I am an enthusiastic person; I enjoy thinking the better of people and situations and like to put every effort into my work. I am a very reflective person and take criticism really positively as I believe there is always something about my teaching that I can improve on or adapt. I take pride in floor sweeping throughout lessons, giving children verbal feedback on any misconceptions or to further challenge them to the best of their ability.

When being observed, I take any feedback on straight away and try my best to implement this within my following lessons and this has been clearly been made evident in subsequent lesson observations. I have enjoyed working alongside both my mentor (who is the maths lead) and class teacher (who is currently head of Key Stage two), from who I have gained a lot of valuable teaching experiences and imparted knowledge I can use throughout my teaching career.

Mathematics has now become a favourite subject of mine, as I believe by subject knowledge and understanding has grown stronger each day. The clear structure of lessons and routine as allowed me to take full control of the lesson and keep a steady pace throughout. I am able to keep children engaged throughout or notice when engagement is deteriorating to adapt the lesson and bring children’s attention back to their learning. I like to make sure that my children are engaged and interested in my classes so try to make them as interesting and informative as possible. I understand that not all children learn the same, therefore I try to use as many learning to learn techniques as possible – meaning children support their own learning and it is not just me stood at the front talking throughout each lesson. I have worked hard to master the technique of effective modelling within lessons and understand that the use of concrete resources is necessary to help build the foundation for learning.

I believe that having a good work life balance keeps me healthy and motivated to continue to work hard.
