The North West Learning Partnership will be running the following training starting in November 2019 aimed at ALL primary schools across the NW region:
“Hook Me In” – How to Write Effective hooks/anchor tasks to Engage and Challenge the Learners
These sessions will explore with year group teachers how to write effective ‘hooks’ (anchor tasks) to engage and challenge the learners.
There will be opportunities to look at how hooks are linked to previous assessments as well as time to write and collate learning hooks. All materials from the day will be collated and distributed.
Year 1- Wednesday 13th November, 9 – 3.30pm
Year 2- Thursday 14th November, 9 – 3.30pm
Year 3- Friday 15th November, 9 – 3.30pm
Year 4- Wednesday 20th November, 9 – 3.30pm
Year 5-Thursday 21st November, 9 – 3.30pm
Year 6- Thursday 21st November, 9 – 3.30pm
All sessions will take place at: Nutgrove Primary School Govett Road, St Helens, WA9 5NH
Target audience: Teachers new to year group, established teachers in all year groups wanting new ideas and Maths SLs to disseminate across school.
Cost: £150* for the full day to include: all course materials, Light refreshments and tea/coffee.

Trainer: Tara Loughran
Tara has extensive experience in schools for leading improvement and change in mathematics. Tara worked as the Senior Adviser for Primary Mathematics in the North of England for the National Strategies and prior to this as a Senior LA numeracy consultant and has supported the writing of national materials both in the UK and internationally. She has provided high quality training for the NWLP (St Helens TSA) since becoming a teaching school in 2013; she has inspired lots of teachers and support staff to take her ideas back to the classroom with significant impact. Her contributions to school improvement have been acknowledged.
