The North West Learning Partnership has the following Leadership Briefings available this term:
- EYFS Base line session- Tuesday 6th October 9-12 at The Barn, Yew Tree Farm, Lower Road, Liverpool, L26 3UA
Join us for this National EYFS Update led by Nikki Walters from Early Excellence.
Prior to the COVID-19 Lockdown, our EYFS colleagues were facing change for the 2020/21 academic year with the compulsory introduction of the Reception Baseline Assessment for all schools, a new curriculum and supporting materials (Development Matters) due to be published, and the option to become an Early Adoptor for the new EYFS Profile prior to its full rollout in 2021.
But what has lockdown meant for all these proposed changes? Where are we now?
In this session we will explore the national landscape for the EYFS in the new school year and examine the next steps for EYFS assessment.
Areas for discussion include:
- The national rollout of the Reception Baseline Assessment: facts v myths
- What constitutes good EYFS assessment
- Policy priorities for the reforms to EYFS Profile Assessment.
Dyslexia Awareness and Intervention Package- Friday 16th October, 9.30-11.30am at Mecure St Helens Hotel, Linkway West, St Helens, WA10 1NG
An insight to why pupils present dyslexic tenancies, how these learning barriers impact teaching and learning and how quality first teaching strategies in the classroom can support pupils in overcoming these learning barriers.
Facilitator: Kathy Carman
As SLE in English, Kathy decided to further develop her knowledge in how teachers can support learners to overcome learning barriers due to dyslexic tendencies. She gained a Masters in Advanced Educational Practice: Dyslexia. In addition, Kathy has an AMBDA and APC award which means that she can offer diagnostic assessments and specialised tuition for pupils with dyslexic tendencies. Kathy became Liverpool Lead with Dyslexia Action and worked with the DfE in developing training for teachers in both Primary and Secondary schools, which she delivered throughout the country.
An additional session for SENDCOs/staff working with pupils with dyslexic tendencies will take place on Friday 13th November, 9.30-3.30 at Mecure St Helens Hotel.
Follow up training session aimed at SENDCOs/staff working with pupils with dyslexic tendencies.
Focus: A working understanding as to why pupils present dyslexic tenancies, how these learning barriers impact teaching and learning and how quality first teaching strategies in the classroom can support pupils in overcoming these learning barriers will be explored. Relevant strategies for intervention, including memory and cognition, will be examined and how these can be applied to IEPs and EHCs.
