Writing Moderation Roadshows BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND JUNE/JULY

The North West Learning Partnership would like to invite ALL schools across the NW Region to attend the following:

Writing Moderation Toolkit Roadshows

To take place on:
KS1 (Y1 and 2 Teachers)- 27th June- West Lancashire Investment Centre, White Moss Business Park, Maple View, Skelmersdale WN8 9TG.
LKS2 (Y3 and 4 Teachers) – 5th July- Yew Tree Farm, Lower Rd, Liverpool L26 3UA.
UKS2 (Y5 and 6 Teachers) – 12th July – Formby Hall Hotel, Southport Old Rd, Formby, Liverpool L37 0AB.

These sessions are ideal for both experienced teachers; ECTs and teachers new to year groups.

The focus of these sessions will be:
  • internal/external moderation process for ALL year groups based on the ‘Tell Me; Show Me and Convince Me’ model
  • making secure teacher assessments for all writers (working at below the age-related standard; working towards the age-related standard; working at the age-related standard and working above the age-related standard)
  • identifying what age-related looks like across the academic year (progression across three terms and looking at the termly intervals)
  • exploring what a collection of evidence should look like per pupil
  • exploring how to fill gaps and inspire confident writers;
  • identifying how to both support and challenge so that all pupils make progress in writing;
  • looking at resources that will motivate and engage writers;
  • confirming teacher judgements for writing through cluster moderation.
The Prim-Ed Moderation Toolkit books will be referenced and used to illustrate what is expected in an average academic year. We will focus on how we can ensure that pupils achieve as close to this standard in writing as possible.

The Teacher Moderation Toolkit won the ‘Highly commended’ award in the ‘Best Primary Resource’ category at the ERA (Education Resource Award) in 2018-19.

The Writing Moderation Toolkit Roadshow was oversubscribed last year.

Testimonial: “When the National Curriculum was introduced, some teachers felt unsure of the expectations within each year group. The toolkit has changed this. Quickly, teachers have a point of reference – a comparative tool”. Deputy Headteacher, Salford.

Cost: £150.00* per delegate Includes delivery, all course materials, a light lunch and refreshments   *NWLP members receive 25% discount on all training sessions.

All sessions will be delivered by: Maddy Barnes
