Writing Moderation Toolkit ‘Virtual’ Roadshows

The North West Learning Partnership would like to invite ALL schools across the NW Region to attend the following CPDL:
Writing Moderation Toolkit ‘Virtual’ Roadshows
In light of the current conditions for PD, we have changed the format and focus of our Moderation Toolkit Roadshows this year.
To take place on the following dates/times :
KS1- Monday 19th April, 9.30-12 noon- ONLINE
LKS2-Monday 26th April, 9.30-12 noon- ONLINE
UKS2- Monday 17th May, 9.30-12 noon- ONLINE
We will be offering half-day training remotely with Maddy Barnes.

The focus of these sessions will be:
  • identifying and prioritising writing objectives for the remainder of the academic year;
  • exploring how to fill gaps and inspire confident writers;
  • identifying how to both support and challenge so that all pupils make progress in writing;
  • looking at resources that will motivate and engage writers;
  • confirming teacher judgements for writing.
The Prim-Ed Moderation Toolkit books will be referenced and used to illustrate what is expected in an average academic year. We will focus on how we can ensure that pupils achieve as close to this standard in writing as possible.

The Teacher Moderation Toolkit won the ‘Highly commended’ award in the ‘Best Primary Resource’ category at the ERA (Education Resource Award) in 2018-19. The Writing Moderation Toolkit Roadshow was oversubscribed last year.

Testimonial: “When the 2014 curriculum was introduced, some teachers felt unsure of the expectations within each year group. The toolkit has changed this. Quickly, teachers have a point of reference – a comparative tool”. Deputy Headteacher, Salford.

All sessions will be delivered by: Maddy BarnesMaddy is an experienced primary school teacher and senior leader who is currently a full-time English Advisor. She offers bespoke training to support schools locally, nationally and internationally. Maddy still regularly teaches in the classroom and
